(and I know in the scheme of things... it isn't THAT big... but for me - right now - it is something)
Kailin is now sleeping in her very own BIG GIRL BED. woah.
I wasn't sure what to expect. We had tried this when we first moved into our house, but didn't have any success. Looking back, it was too much transition all at once with a new house and a new room and a new bed. She wasn't ready. Not to mention I wasn't ready for the freedom that comes with a big girl bed. So we took the bed apart and stored it the basement. Recently I became increasingly aware that it was getting harder and harder for me to lug Kailin in and out of her crib. I just knew it was time.
She was ready - even if I wasn't. Time to buck up and face the change.
There isn't space in her room to keep a crib and the bed - so there is no overlapping to see what works and what doesn't. We just went for it. The same day Carlos put together the bed, we just looked at each other and said "Ok - here we go." and Carlos took apart the crib.
Kailin LOVES her new bed.
She has been so cute snuggling, playing, and reading in her bed.
It did mean time-outs for jumping or standing on the bed, and the first night she did roll out of the bed once onto the floor (hasn't happened again!). She has not been napping as much due to the freedom to get up and play with everything in her room. However, on the plus side - this means that she is super tired at night and we haven't had any trouble getting her to go to bed and stay in bed. I give the Good NiteLite a LOT of credit for helping with her understanding to stay in her room in the morning until the "sun comes up".
All in all, it has been a fairly smooth ordeal.
Another step for my big girl.
Another step for mom.
We will work on making the bed later on.
